The entire Elston team recently came together to celebrate a significant milestone – the 10-year anniversary of the company. Elston officially started on 1 October 2008 at a very difficult time. It was the height of the Global Financial Crisis with the Lehman Brothers collapse only 2 weeks prior. Since then, the business has grown significantly, increasing approximately 20-fold, as measured by assets under management.
Commenting on the 10-year anniversary, Andrew McKie, CEO of Elston Group said, “A business is a collection of people coming together in pursuit of a collective goal. The success of a business is the aggregate of the success of those people. So the growth and success of Elston is really just the growth and success of the individuals involved, and we congratulate all of our team on their success”.
Achieving a 10-year anniversary is not an insignificant milestone in Australia, with only 30% of SMEs surviving 10 years, and just 15% lasting 15 years. Only 3% of the 2,000,000+ Australian SME businesses go on to employ more than 20 people. Mr McKie added, “One of the most rewarding aspects of the business growing over time is the opportunities this has created for the team, with Elston now employing over 80 people across Australia.”
Culturally, Elston has a strong focus on clients, with everyone in the business understanding that without clients the business does not exist. Our clients are our most important stakeholder, and a genuine client focus drives innovation and service, which underpins the sustainability of Elston in the long term.
