About the role

A rare opportunity has been created for a talented and motivated Institutional Business Development Manager to work closely with a highly experienced Funds Management team in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. This role will focus on developing, maintaining and growing the Elston Asset Management (EAM) institutional business via execution of a dedicated external business development and relationship strategy. This will involve managing both internal and external stakeholders and requires working as part of the Elston Adviser Services (EAS) team to help achieve EAM and Elston Group business objectives. Client segments include corporate, government and industry superannuation including larger wholesale intermediaries as well as non-superannuation clients such as insurance and finance companies, school, societies, charities, heal funds, universities and other institutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the Institutional sales pipeline across the various market segments, preparation of briefing notes, responding to client queries and collating relevant response materials.
  • Development and updating of market mapping across all Institutional sales channels.
  • Preparation and maintenance of Client and Prospect Account Plans, working collaboratively with the relevant EAM investment teams on engagement plan.
  • General reporting and analysis of both internal and external clients.
  • Attend meetings as appropriate and take responsibility for follow up actions.
  • Maintain relevant databases and contact lists in Pipedrive.
  • Monitor Institutional calendar ensuring that briefing notes and presentation materials appropriate for meetings are produced ahead of time.
  • Deliver professional, timely and efficient client service, communications and reporting that meets our client’s needs and delivers a great client experience.
  • Portfolio Review meeting coordination, preparation and attendance.
  • Account and relationship management of Elston’s key institutional clients.
  • Working the Elston Adviser Services team including Head of Philanthropic Services to identify and convert client cross-sell business opportunities.
  • Share industry intelligence and client market feedback amongst the business in order to better focus relationship and sales efforts.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Results oriented/ strong team player
  • Commercial awareness and strong business acumen
  • Strong influencing, persuasiveness and negotiation skills
  • Positive personality with a growth mindset
  • Bachelor’s degree in an economics, engineering, finance, mathematics or science related discipline
  • Post graduate or CFA Charterholder highly regarded
  • 10+ years’ experience in funds management and/or financial services
  • Strong track record of engagement in the target market
