The Change Makers events shine a light on the transformative work being undertaken in communities right now. They’re not fundraisers. They’re forums that bring together charities, researchers and people who are interested in making a positive impact through giving.
At our most recent forum, we focused on the people who are creating new ways for disability to be turned into ability.
As you can see from the photos below, it was a great night with a real feeling of community and connection.
Dinesh is a doctor, lawyer, researcher and author. During his medical studies, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident that caused a spinal cord injury. As a result of his experiences, Dinesh has been an advocate for inclusion and is a founding member of Doctors with Disabilities Australia.
When Michael Curran and James Teh met as children, they realised they shared a strong interest in computers. Years later they decided to join forces to help improve the accessibility of computers for blind and vision impaired people. Their screen reader has changed so many lives around the world.
Dr Rieger is an award-winning researcher, educator, curator, artist and designer with expertise in co-design, access and inclusive spatial design. She has been advocating for people with disabilities for over twenty-five years. Janice is excited by the possibilities new technology is enabling.
